A Tribute to Duncan K
Well, sad news
again ... For those of you who haven't heard, Dunc has
decided it's finally time to hang up his
soundman/lighting-man/white-van-man boots! It was a
difficult decision for him to make, but it's been on his
mind for a while. Pressures of work and family life have
made it impossible for him to carry on with the Rock 'n'
Roll lifestyle.
In deciding to leave Dunc's main worry was that, due to
his pivotal role in the band, his decision might lead to
Splinter disbanding. So once he'd made up his mind he did
everything he could to ensure that Splinter didn't have
to come off the road - not even for a single gig! That's
the kind of man Dunc is - a diamond! You really would
have to go a long, long way to find a more generous and
caring man than Dunc - a true friend. We are all going to
miss him and his ever-cheerful character so very, very
much.

A little bit of
history:
Dunc was there at the foundation of Splinter and has been
with the band ever since in it's on going mission (almost
NINE years so far!) to bring quality Rock 'n' Roll
entertainment to appreciative audiences all over the
south of England. He started off as a driver/roadie and,
as his interest grew, he began experimenting with
lighting effects to add to the ambience of our shows.
Wanting to make more of a contribution he decided to
acquire a sound system for the band and became Splinter's
fifth member as our sound engineer. Over the years he
built up his system into a colossus 4000-Watt sound rig,
which was a major factor in the Splinter live sound.
But worry ye not, we've acquired sound and lights capable
of allowing us to continue to bring you our distinctive
live performances. So, although we will all miss Dunc in
spirit, hopefully his absence will not detract from the
quality of our show.
But, we'll always
be thinking of you, Dunc ... you brought something so
much more than lights and sound to the Splinter family...
